BUILDING RESILIENCE TOOLKIT

About

The Building Resilience Toolkit was developed to accompany A Better City’s research paper on climate adaptation in buildings for the Boston Green Ribbon Commission to support the City of Boston’s Climate Action Plan. It is designed to give Challenge participants, commercial building owners, and the public guidance on potential structural interventions for increasing the resilience of commercial buildings to climate change.

The Toolkit provides a short description of each potential action, and is grouped by climate impact. The toolkit also notes if the action is targeted for buildings inside or outside the floodplain. Information is also provided for potential costs, regulatory touchpoints, financing and incentives, and local vendors and case studies, where available.

Building adaptation is a rapidly evolving field. Ongoing feedback and contributions to the Toolkit can be sent to challenge@abettercity.org. The Toolkit is a living document and will continue to be updated by A Better City staff.[1]
