Saline pools are more environmentally friendly than those treated with chlorine. They create their own natural chlorine through the use of a chlorinator cell, which use an electric current to break down ordinary salt (sodium chloride) into common cleaning agents.
Swimming in saline pools prevents many health effects associated with swimming in a chlorinated pool, such as red or irritated eyes, skin irritation and tightness in the chest. In addition, saline pools reduce the use of harmful chemicals for cleaning, which are typically flushed into sewage systems and waterways.
