A sustainability coordinator works on site to achieve the sustainability goals of the institution, primarily by improving sustainable practices. Coordinators typically work with property managers and tenants to provide educational information, conduct surveys, choose employees for LEED certification, organize a green team or task force, and publish sustainable policies and procedures for employees.
A coordinator brings together a team to develop goals, review existing policies, implement procedures and procurement policies, monitor results, and report changes. Working through goals with a team and managers builds consensus and fosters greater collaboration with implementation and follow-up. Coordinators design sustainable policies tailored to the individual organization to maximize results.
