Implement An Internal Office Supplies Swap Program

What Is It?

The idea is based on “freecycling,” a growing trend that combines free products and recycling that attempts to promote the exchange of items already in existence to extend their usefulness. The way it works varies from office to office, but in general, a coordinator (such as the building manager) determines the venue and the items to be exchanged, the employees visit the location, drop off the items they no longer need and pick up the ones they will need.

An office supplies swap program is beneficial to both the business and the environment. For the business, it saves the money to buy new supplies. For the environment, it reduces the amount of waste that goes into landfills as well as reducing the amount of energy and pollution associated with manufacturing new office supplies.
