Provide Preferential Parking For Carpools And Vanpools

What Is It?

Preferential parking is any dedicated on or off-street parking spaces allocated to vehicles used for carpooling or vanpooling. Often, preferential parking is located in a superior location, such as near the workplace entrance, under shelter, etc.

Benefits

Preferential parking encourages employees to join or remain as a member of a car or vanpool. This has a significant environmental impact because carpools and vanpools decrease the number of single occupancy vehicles commuting to a given workplace. Additionally, this practice could lead to cost-savings for the business because the need for additional parking will decrease as the number of carpooling vehicles increases.
