Provide Shower And Changing Facilities For Cyclists

What Is It?

Changing rooms and showers, in addition to safe bicycle storage/bicycle racks and lockers to store helmets and other cycling gear, are all considered amenities that encourage employees to cycle to work. Providing space for cyclists to shower and change from athletic into business clothes enables employees to exercise as part of their work day, with fewer concerns about changes in weather or required business attire.

There are a number of benefits of cycling to work for the employees, the employer, and the general public. Cycling improves the employees’ health (thus it may reduce the number of employees’ sick days) and it saves the cyclists’ car maintenance and repair costs. For the general public, fewer people taking their cars onto the road minimizes traffic congestion and air pollution. Studies also show increased productivity after exercising.
